Got pulled over doing well over 45 in a 45, didn’t get a ticket. IN VIRGINIA!!

The fuck? Really? Impossible!
State Pooper or Fairfax PD? Has to be one of the two. State Police is hit and miss, Fairfax PD just do their own thing and selectively pull over people for the most part.

Fairfax PD, and let me tell you, he was being very generous.

Are your wheels plastidipped or is that brake dust? They look much darker than mine.

That one of you E9Xs? I assume not as that looks like a 335d with the M-sport package on it, after our conversation last week, I really want one.

Aha, I knew it! They’re all pretty nice.
I know a Fairfax officer with a 2016 WRX with a bunch of Cobb parts. There's a few guys out there who'll give you a break if they like your ride haha.

No, thats just a picture of an E90 in the same color as my E92 (wanted to see how the gray wheels would look with the color)

Not my car, but in Europe the 193m’s came in 2 colors, I believe it's called ferric gray.

Those wheels look great there.

I deserved a reckless driving ticket, so I have a newfound appreciation for FCPD. He was a really nice guy around 30 probably. He didn't say anything about my car, but he did point out that it was stick!

That is a nice color, darker wheels would go nice on it. I originally ask which one of your BMWs that it was, then I was like oh yeah the 328i is the saloon, and then I was thinking damn, it’s got the angel eyes on it, must be a high spec’ed one, then I saw the M-sport bumper and the only E90 I’ve seen it on like that is the 335d, and the wheels match the picture I found of the 335d M-sport, so must be one of those or is a model not sold here or I’m just completely wrong.

Haha, that man deserves a beer.
He was probably one of us I'm guessing.

He must have known about him from oppo

I wish my 328i looked that good haha, it’s nearly a base model besides navi and heated seats. I’ve only seen a handful of M-sport 335d’s in the US, so I’m certain that they were offered but were probably really rare and now hard to find.
![]() 06/09/2016 at 22:25 |

Oh yeah, but I've learned my lesson. Definitely need to be more careful.

Yup, speeding in this are is a hell-no for me. Too many people and cops to risk it.

I was on Braddock, literally 5 minutes from my house, maybe 2 other cars around, then bam blue lights. Didn't even realize how fast I was going (a hair under 80).

I saw one a while ago in San Antonio last year sometime and was like damn, I have to have one of those. They had one for sale at BMW of Austin but it was like a month or two before I was serious about upgrading my second car. It was hard enough to find a 6 speed E90 M3 with leather and idrive, I bet it’ll be a bitch to find a 335d M-sport once I’m actually in the market, but I gotta find a job first then I can dream about another E90, searching for the car is half the fun at times.

Which locality and the locals or State police?

Fairfax county, it was FCPD.

I’m really glad that some remembers that.
Sidenote: You approve my friend ? I’ve been trying to get him to comment on oppo forever now, like back when we all had stars, he was the one that turned me on to Jalopnik in the first place.

Searching for cars is so much fun, I'm not really seriously in the market for anything right now yet I find myself on autotrader and on the forums almost daily just looking at what's out there.

I find myself doing the same thing. One of my high school friends constantly wants a new car, so that gives me something to search for. Or when my dad was looking for the car he wanted, I enjoyed searching for him. I was looking at AMGs like 2 months ago, cause I could, and one caught my eye so much that I was thinking some dumb thoughts about actually getting it. I’ve got a thing for fast german saloons, which is why I’m gonna do a lot of shopping around for a different make for a new car when I get a job and then just get a 6 speed 335i or a 335d in the end. Speaking of which, time to search the ATL market for 6-speed 335i’s.

Ah I’m farther out so I don’t have to deal with them very much, the trade off is country roads and the sheriff for my commute.

I’ve heard lots of good things about the 63 engine in AMG’s. You should look for an E63 wagon haha. I think the 6 speed 335i is a perfect daily driver. I’m obviously biased, but I have experience in the M3 as well. We bought one for my dad, but we ultimately sold it because it was too low (ZCP) and stiff for my mom, and she didn’t wasn’t to learn manual. While I was waiting for it to sell I daily drove it for about 2 months (I definitely took my time getting it ready for sale lol) and it was fantastic. I loved it a lot and would totally still DD it given the chance, but the 335i is much better at being a daily driver. It gets 30mpg highway, it has tons of torque below 3k rpm’s, get rid of the runflats and the ride is honestly comfortable, yet it still handles like 7/10's of the M3. It feels very fast, but not as.. Exotic as the M3. The speed is still there, the power delivery is just so different.

Will do when I get a chance on my computer. I’m on my phone most of the time and adding people from that is a massive PITA.
/miss the stars. I only had mine for maybe a month or two before they hit us with 5.0

The M3 comes with regular tires, I had new tires put on in Tulsa and the dealer there tried to tell me that I had run flats. When I picked up the car he was like you were right the M cars don’t come with run flats. I think you’re right about it being the perfect daily driver, I want something that doesn’t eat $400 rear tires and burn through petrol at 14 mpg. My dad has a 135is (think I’ve mentioned that before), but after driving it, I could DD something with that engine. I’d also want to get an exhaust for it, I love the noise a BMW I6 makes. There is some turbo lag, I noticed some, a very tiny amount but it’s there, then again that’s NA vs turbo, I guess after driving an M car for 2 years, you notice things like that. Sad news is that it looks like there’s not too many sedans with 6MTs out there for sale.

Thanks man. Whenever you get a chance that’d be great.
I miss my star as well, I think I had it for awhile, got it Aug 4, 2011. I know that cause I took a screen shot of the post I got my star on.

If you weren’t looking for a sedan I would totally recommend an E92 335is. It’s faster than the normal 335i, better suspension, better cooling, M-sport kit with a different rear bumper, exhaust, etc. About as special and fast as you can get without going M.

I could rock a coupe, I mean I’ve got a 128i right now, I have thought about one of those so we’ll see when it’s time. I feel like most of the 335is’s are DCT drop tops, which is unfortunate. If there’s one thing I like more than BMW sedans, it’s BMWs with 3 pedals. I’ve also thought about DDing the M3, but I want two cars so I have something different, even if it is another BMW, and being a car person, wanting 2 cars is a good enough excuse for me to own 2.

Huh, I didn’t think they were around that long. I think I got mine in April or May that year, I do know it was Matt that starred me. Pretty sure I had a screenshot at some point too but I’d be hard pressed to find it now.

The back seat is great in the E92, you can actually fit 2 normal adults back there. I have a few manual is’s around me, definitely search around because they are GREAT cars. Beware though, the engine is so easy to mod and get power out of. You can spends lots of mone haha.

My law-abiding self had trouble going 5 over in a state where everyone routinely goes 15 over. (California.)
45 over in a 45 IN VIRGINIA? From what I hear about Virginia, how were you not just pulled over and executed on the spot?
![]() 06/10/2016 at 06:25 |

I read that as “got pulled over for doing 45 in a 45" which is something that I’d completely believe in Virginia. I lived there for something like 15 years.
F@#$
you, Virginia.

Ah that makes sense. They just started offering Ferric gray on the M235i wheels as a 2016 option.

I’m getting ready to put a set of 219m’s on my car, and they are pretty close to ferric gray. My car is the same color as the one above, definitely a good combo IMO.
